Security Essentials

Included in our Security Essentials

1_REMOTE BACKUP

Remote Backup

We monitor your backup daily as part of our service. An engineer will initially install the backup software so you can have complete confidence that your important files are being backed up correctly.

We use military grade data centres across the UK to ensure that your data is fully encrypted, stored and replicated.

Should your on-site systems fail, we also offer a full disaster recovery solution which allows your systems to continue to operate in the cloud – meaning minimal disruption for you and your staff.

2_CLOUD TO CLOUD BACKUP

Cloud to Cloud Backup

Data stored in the cloud on services such as Office 365 and Google for Education can still be lost if not backup up securely, through human error, hacking, ransomware or accidentally closing accounts.

We partner with Redstor, market leading Cloud Data Management company to provide a secure, fully encrypted solution hosted with Tier 4 UK data centres.

For added peace of mind we monitor your backups to ensure everything is running exactly as expected.

3_CCTV

CCTV

CCTV is a great and easy way to boost security at a school, from recording incidents in the playground to recording a suspicious person overnight at the site.

We highly recommend a system by Hikvision which uses your schools existing network cable infrastructure, keeping costs down, to connect the Full HD cameras to the recording system which can be remotely accessed and stores data for at least 1 month.

We can help you design a personalised solution that suits for the needs of the school and can be anything from 2 to 99 cameras, internal and external. We do also work with other systems and can support those already installed.

4_MULTI FACTOR AUTHENTICATION MFA-2FA

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA / 2FA)

We provide the latest security standards to your environment with 2FA (Two-factor authentication).

2FA adds an additional layer of security to the authentication process much like you already use for online banking by making it more difficult for attackers to gain access to devices, online accounts and resources.

2FA combined with conditional access ensures authenticity of logins and safeguards sensitive data with the option of OTP (One Time Password) keyring tags to comply with school policies.

5_VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT

Vulnerability Assessment

Cybersecurity is important for schools as they are heavily reliant on technology to operate effectively.

Without vulnerability assessments (VA), schools may leave themselves open to cyberattacks and a variety of other security issues.

VA’s are critical to identify security flaws and entry points into compromising the school network and computers.

We provide in depth, periodic documented vulnerability assessment reports showing remediations to secure systems both internally and externally.

6_PHISHING ATTACK SIMULATION

Phishing Attack Simulation

Phishing simulations test and help reinforce cybersecurity training for staff to recognise, avoid, and report potential email threats.

We provide custom phishing simulations for a variety of online platforms to guard your school against social-engineering threats.

Detailed reports can be produced to provide an insight on individuals that would benefit from further training.

7_VISITOR MANAGEMENT

Visitor Management

Knowing who is on your premises at all times is very important. For years, a simple visitor book on the front desk sufficed, however, with data protection and GDPR at the forefront of everyone’s minds, it is important to have a compliant system in place.

We recommend InVentry and having worked with them in a number of schools, we know it is the most popular solution.

Providing the ability to quickly print class lists showing which pupils are in school, due to the link to your MIS, and current visitors who are on the premises in the event of an evacuation meaning you have a quickly know if anyone may still be inside.

It is also possible to ask visitors to accept safeguarding agreements and coronavirus based questions to assist with being covid-secure.

8_ACCESS CONTROL

Access Control

Security in schools is extremely high on the agenda coupled with the requirement to have a lockdown procedure in place, we find that Access Control is a fantastic way to meet the requirements placed upon schools.

We recommend Paxton which can be installed to a server and connected to any door or gate using a network connection.

Lockdown buttons can be installed in the school to quickly activate the procedure and doors can be set to open or close with different time zones such as for an after school club.

The system is very flexible and can even be linked into CCTV systems to provide an image of a door when it is unlocked by a user.

We have also worked with other access control systems if you already have one installed you wish to expand and can offer a service to design a solution to fit your needs.

9_ANTI-VIRUS AND RANSOMWARE PROTECTION

Anti-Virus and Ransomware Protection

With the ever-growing advancements in technology and the ability to access data anywhere and at anytime, we need to be able to keep this information, safe and secure.

As a Sophos Silver Partner, we can provide the latest threat protection solutions with significant savings for education customers for both on premises and cloud-based products.

10_ENCRYPTED EMAIL SERVICE

Encrypted Email Service

Schools, regardless of the number of students and staff, hold data that can be very sensitive.

To keep information safe, we provide an easy to use, secure, end-to-end encrypted communication for staff keeping your student information secure and confidential without the need to replace your current email system.

11_EMAIL SPAM PROTECTION

Email Spam Protection

Protect your staff and student mailboxes with this vital additional email security layer protecting email platforms such as Office 365 and Gmail from malware and zero day attacks with a rock solid, multi-award winning anti-spam, malware blocking and email filtering service at an affordable price.

The sandboxing feature protects against breaches and sophisticated email attacks by providing a powerful environment to run in-depth, sophisticated analysis of unknown or suspicious programs and files.

12_ID CARD DESIGN & PRINT

ID Card Design & Print

We can create custom ID cards in our design studio, with a quick turnaround offered when needed.

We can customise ID cards to your requirements and include information such as job titles and DBS numbers.

We also, if required, can supply stock or personalised lanyards and holders.

We appointed Eduthing as our IT consultants in April this year and have been very pleased with the service so far. The ethos of the company conveyed by the Managing Director during the tender process and the Primary Schools & Academies Director during our initial meeting was exactly what we were looking for. The support team are always friendly and helpful and will be persistent when trying to resolve the issues within our technology. Our print release software was a particular nightmare, but Eduthing did not give up and we now have a solution.

Our system is in need of updating and we look forward very much to the outcome of the recent IT audit and working with Eduthing to improve hardware, speeds of data and our working practices. We have a lot of work to do and are confident that Eduthing will guide us through this process.

In April 2019, following an extensive tender process, we selected eduthing to deliver a managed IT service at St Matthew’s. With a number of providers in the sector, it was crucial that we partnered with a forward thinking company to help devise a strategy to update our ageing IT infrastructure and classroom technology. Their educational experience and knowledge was key to ensure we invested our budget wisely, with  maximum impact and to best support teaching and learning. The upgrade gave us a solid platform to deploy remote learning quickly and effectively. In partnership with eduthing, we are now able to confidently take a  proactive approach to our IT.

There was only one company that we felt had the credentials to meet our exacting expectations, eduthing. The team of engineers worked above and beyond, not only in the physical transition, but in the ongoing support of staff and Senior Leaders with reassurance. The team worked above and beyond expectations, often late at night and into weekends. The online support from eduthing is available during working hours, with engineers able to resolve 99% of issues remotely and efficiently. We also have access to an onsite engineer for half a day per week. Both aspects of this support serve to reassure staff and students that we have the technology and infrastructure to achieve the world class education our students deserve.

While I am all too aware that eduthing manage the IT solutions in large schools, when it comes to a personal approach in a small special school, they are exceptional. We look forward to many more years on support.

If you want expert, flexible, forward looking support for your IT needs, then I would suggest you look no further than eduthing. On top of the invaluable help desk (where any day to day issues are quickly dealt with) we have had support with: new servers; extending Wi-Fi access; installation of CCTV; roll out of google classroom and Chromebooks; roll out of Office 365; setting up our digital printer network; procurement of interactive  screens, PCs, iPads and Chromebooks (all at very competitive prices) and the benefit of experts who listen to our needs and are proactive in suggesting solutions. Like all schools we are heavily reliant on our IT infrastructure and with eduthing we feel that we are in safe hands.

Eduthing are the third managed service provider I have had in Ash Manor School since I became headteacher and they stand head and shoulders above the others. They invested a considerable amount of time at the start of the contract ensuring that our system was dramatically improved and in less than a year the provision in the school is significantly better for staff and students.

The eduthing staff respond quickly to issues and during the school closures have been invaluable, ensuring that staff and students can work from home, are always available for anyone who needs training or advice and supporting our remote learning provision. Eduthing understand education and respond accordingly; I am very pleased that we chose them to work with us.

Eduthing have managed our IT provision for three years now. They have worked with us to completely re-design our infrastructure from the ground up, ensuring that our network provides reliable coverage across the site and secure access from a wide range of devices. The responsiveness of the support systems in place is excellent, with staff now confident that any issues they come across will be responded to quickly and effectively. Eduthing also work as a strategic partner; informing and supporting us with our plans to develop our IT resources, but also challenging us to be ambitious and achieve more. Throughout lockdown they not only ensured that we were able to provide a reliable online curriculum, they supported us to further evolve and improve that provision so that it is now second to none.

eduthing have provided us with incredible support, expertise, and resilience when they started working with us in January 2020. They provided a complete review of our IT infrastructure to identify what areas of improvement should be made to enhance teaching and learning. In the last 18 months we have finally got Wi-Fi, a complete infrastructure rebuild, better facilities in classroom, and superfast broadband. Students and staff have been able to use office 365 effectively to deliver live lessons for months. The dedicated helpdesk has acted promptly to resolve issues quickly in the evening or weekends if needed. The advice and service  we received has allowed us to plan financially to make more efficient use of resources and purchase new technology and reasonable prices. I highly recommend eduthing for all your IT needs.

We are delighted with our upgraded CCTV system installed in February 2021 by eduthing. The pictures are crystal clear and we can log in from any computer or via an app on our smart phones. The software is fairly straightforward to navigate and you can look at multiple views at one time or just concentrate on one camera. You can take stills as evidence and it has already been very useful, catching some silly behaviour from some rather red faced pupils.

The actual installation was quick and efficient. The engineers were very pleasant and worked closely with us to ensure we ended up with the best coverage of our site. They also provided and installed all appropriate signage so we had nothing to worry about.

We have been with eduthing from the outset and have always found them to be professional and responsive to our school’s needs. The engineers fit into and understand school life and we consider them part of our team. The helpdesk is friendly and well organised with many issues resolved remotely and promptly. We all appreciate the on-demand visits introduced last year, a fantastic addition to an already excellent service.

During the pandemic eduthing have continued to offer outstanding support and confirmed themselves as the right choice for our school. They ensured our remote education platform was set up and ready to go to ensure our pupils could access everything required for home schooling. This removed a huge burden from the staff and enabled them to focus on teaching. eduthing have helped to shape our future IT programme and provided advice and solutions as requested. We are in a much stronger position knowing we can rely on them and that they deliver.

We have been using eduthing for a number of years, they support us with every aspect of our IT from day-to-day problems with software to advising on large scale projects. eduthing helped us during the pandemic by quickly turning around loading software onto new Chromebooks and helping with the endless google suite questions to ensure remote learning was available to all. We have a good working relationship with the field engineers and are always able to get hold of the Primary Schools and Academies Director or Managing Director if the need arises.
When a problem has arisen, eduthing reacted quickly and professionally and are always open to suggestions in the way we work together.
