MANAGE-YOUR-POWER-USAGE

Manage Your Power Usage

By charging your devices for around two hours a day and then setting timers so the power is turned off you can save around £2k per year on electricity bills through not allowing devices to trickle charge.

At eduthing we can set this up for you for.

NOT-ALL-USER-DEVICES-ARE-MADE-EQUAL

Not all user devices are made equal

Some us more power, some create more CO2 in the manufacturing process and some create more CO2 during their lifetime use.

At eduthing we can help you understand the most cost effective approach to device procurement and management.

MOVING-TO-CLOUD-SERVICES

Moving to Cloud Services

Both major education Cloud providers – Microsoft and Google – run their data centres on green renewable energy and have made pledges to be carbon neutral by 2025. This means that using Cloud Services will not add CO2 to the atmosphere.

Cloud service costs are inclusive of power charges so there are no hidden costs apart from what you pay on the subscription charge.

Cloud services optimise the use of hardware in datacentres making the most efficient use of resources.

At eduthing we can help you map your journey to the Cloud so that your IT solution is as cost effective as possible and so that you reduce your carbon footprint as much as possible.

FRONT-OF-CLASSROOM-DISPLAYS

Front of Classroom Displays

Front of classroom displays are not all created equal. We work with the most efficient suppliers and those that take their sustainability pledges very seriously. We can help you make sure you have the best options for sustainability as part of you solution.

Understanding the supply chain – CO2 emissions come from the manufacturing, transportation, usage and then disposal of IT assets. At eduthing we have assembled a set of partners in our supply chain that are dedicated to ensuring the lowest possible CO2 footprint and the highest levels of sustainability for their products and solutions.

DISPOSAL-OF-ASSETS

Disposal of Assets

We are of course dedicated to making sure that any electronic waste is disposed of ethically, but we also work with partners who will re-purpose old equipment and then put it back into use wherever possible.

Re-purposing a device or the components from a device is by far the most sustainable approach to utilising equipment that is no longer fit for purpose in the classroom.

2_ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT

ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT

We are focused on ensuring that we help our customers make the most of their budgets and that they are able to make savings wherever possible.

With the volatility in energy prices and the need to minimise carbon emissions, we will undertake an audit of the energy consumption of your IT solution.

We will help you minimise the use of power when charging devices by enabling some very simple approaches to power management.

We will also look at your onsite server deployments and help you understand if moving to cloud based alternatives could save money.

Eduthing has transformed the IT at our one form entry primary school. A complete overhaul of the infrastructure, hardware and software has meant staff can work far more effectively and efficiently at school and at home; and most importantly, technology is now regularly used across the curriculum to support the children’s learning. The introduction of Chromebooks has transformed the way in which technology is used in lessons. Children engage in their learning through safe, easy and reliable devices and the children absolutely love them! Eduthing has been brilliant at any technical support that the school has needed- either remotely or in school, the service is very friendly, professional and helpful. Any issues are resolved quickly.

We appointed Eduthing as our IT consultants in April this year and have been very pleased with the service so far. The ethos of the company conveyed by the Managing Director during the tender process and the Primary Schools & Academies Director during our initial meeting was exactly what we were looking for. The support team are always friendly and helpful and will be persistent when trying to resolve the issues within our technology. Our print release software was a particular nightmare, but Eduthing did not give up and we now have a solution.

Our system is in need of updating and we look forward very much to the outcome of the recent IT audit and working with Eduthing to improve hardware, speeds of data and our working practices. We have a lot of work to do and are confident that Eduthing will guide us through this process.

Eduthing had inherited and supported since uptake in April, an archaic server setup. As we are a multi-site primary school (historically 3 independent schools that amalgamated in 2011) there were a number of physical servers and domains across the sites. This meant that we had no easily accessible central storage for all staff as well as meaning that staff who worked across multiple sites had different logins for each site.

The impact this project has had is immeasurable. Staff no longer have to wait 20 minutes for machines to start up and login, have access to data from whichever site they are on and also now have the option of accessing the network remotely if working from home. Where snagging issues were raised following the rebuild, a team of technicians were sent to each of the sites and these were quickly and sufficiently rectified. We now have a network and computers that staff, teachers, support and admin, can rely on and who don’t fear things going wrong with their IT during their lessons. The difference in the support that we continue to have, compared to our previous provider, is immeasurable.

In April 2019, following an extensive tender process, we selected eduthing to deliver a managed IT service at St Matthew’s. With a number of providers in the sector, it was crucial that we partnered with a forward thinking company to help devise a strategy to update our ageing IT infrastructure and classroom technology. Their educational experience and knowledge was key to ensure we invested our budget wisely, with  maximum impact and to best support teaching and learning. The upgrade gave us a solid platform to deploy remote learning quickly and effectively. In partnership with eduthing, we are now able to confidently take a  proactive approach to our IT.

Eduthing are the third managed service provider I have had in Ash Manor School since I became headteacher and they stand head and shoulders above the others. They invested a considerable amount of time at the start of the contract ensuring that our system was dramatically improved and in less than a year the provision in the school is significantly better for staff and students.

The eduthing staff respond quickly to issues and during the school closures have been invaluable, ensuring that staff and students can work from home, are always available for anyone who needs training or advice and supporting our remote learning provision. Eduthing understand education and respond accordingly; I am very pleased that we chose them to work with us.
